Who we are

We are a civic service organization that serves the Lake Cities communities of Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores, Texas. The Lake Cities Lions Club consists of men and women, from all walks of life, who desire to serve our community and enrich the lives of those with special needs.

Where we meet

We meet every month on the 2nd Tuesday from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm for lunch at Genti's Pizza and Pasta - 3700 FM2181, Hickory Creek, TX 75065. Our meetings are fun and informal with programs designed to inform, educate, inspire and entertain.

What we do

The Lake Cities Lions are united with 1.35 million Lions in more than 200 countries throughout the world in a single cause: Helping those less fortunate. We are tackling the tough problems like blindness and drug abuse as well as diabetes awareness—and finding help and training for the deaf, disabled, underprivileged and the elderly.

Why the Lion?

On June 17, 1917 at the invitation of Melvin Jones, delegates met in Chicago. The only point of contention was the selection of a name for the new organization. Melvin Jones researched the idea of calling the new organization Lions. He was convinced that the lion stood for strength, courage, fidelity and vital action. On a secret ballot the name Lions was chosen over several others.
